God's View of Sex

Mike Sullivan
1 Corinthians 6:18

God has a high view of sex. God designed sex for the purposes of reproduction, oneness between a husband and wife, and for pleasure. He calls us to turn from anything outside of that (porneia.) To do that we must: 1) trust God; 2) realize hope; 3) build healthy relationships with other Christians; 4) take the first step.

Learning from Israel's Mistakes

James Rochford
Luke 17:12-17

Paul encourages the Corinthians to learn from the mistakes of the Israelites, including idolatry, sexual immorality, ingratitude, and self-righteousness. These practices sapped their spiritual vitality, as they do ours today, but this passage offers us ways to restore our walks with God.

God's View of Sex, Marriage and Divorce

Conrad Hilario
1 Corinthians 7:1-17

The Apostle Paul teaches the Corinthian church about God's design for sex and marriage, as well as his views on divorce--topics as useful and relevant today as they were then.

God's Design for Sex

Conrad Hilario
1 Corinthians 6:9-20

The Apostle Paul urges the church in the immoral city of Corinth to live out their sexuality in a manner consistent with who they are in Christ. These timeless principles are relevant for us today, in a culture that's view of sex is distorted and opposed to God's design. If we allow him, God will change our mind and behavior so that we can be free from the damaging effects of sexual sin, healed of past hurts, and free to experience truly fulfilling sex, the way God intended.

God's Design for Sex

James Rochford
Genesis 2:18

Through the account of the creation of Adam and Eve, God gives us insight into His design for sex and marriage. God is pretty clear about His view on these two topics; however, a lot the world's commonly held views are in direct opposition to what God says. The Bible says the world's view is broken. Take a look at what God has to say, and several statistics from leading studies in this area.

Legacy of Sand

Pat Reeder
Luke 6:46-49

Jesus tells a parable showing the differences between building a house on rock and on sand. In the end, the effect of building on sand is collapse and ruin. When we look into our culture, there is plenty of evidence that supports the idea that if we base our lives on things other than biblical morals, the outcome is not good. By looking into the specific areas of pornography use, sexual "liberation," and divorce, we can easily see the damage that follows these paths.

Sex and Marriage

Conrad Hilario
Matthew 19:4-6

God values marriage and sexuality immensely, and He desires for them to be honored by all. The Biblical view of sex and marriage, however, is incredibly different from the modern perspective in its definition, norms, and preparation for marriage and sex, and yet modern research demonstrates that the Biblical perspective is the only method that brings true fulfillment. Single Christians should seek to develop the skills necessary for a good marriage, and those that are married should work hard to maintain the health of their marriages as well.

The Right Use of the Law

Scott Risley
Romans 7:6

Timothy had to deal with false teachers pushing the idea that Christians need the Law to continue their spiritual growth. We learn from Paul that this is not true and he refutes it with Jesus's own teaching. The law isn't for the righteous but it is meant to lead those who need forgiveness toward God.

Good News about Sex

Bev DeLashmutt
1 Thessalonians 4:3-10

Bev DeLashmutt teaches on the topic of God's design for sex from 1 Thessalonians 4. Contrasting the world's view with God's view, Bev points out that ultimately God's design is more fulfilling and better than we could have imagined!
