Paul writes to the Corinthians about eating meat sacrificed to idols. He urged them to practice their freedom in Christ and eat the meat if they feel okay to do so, but to not eat the meat if it will stumble other Christians. The application in our lives is that we should have a willingness to sacrifice our own freedoms in morally gray areas in order to show love others.

God has a specific purpose and plan for your life. He is committed to leading you. But there are prerequisites. You must establish a personal relationship with God. You must have a willingness to follow in advance of knowing His will. Finally, you must be willing to ask God what His will is. God primarily reveals His will through His written Word and generously gives wisdom to those who ask. The only way to feel confident that you are at the center of God's will is to have a heart yielded to Him.

Everyone who rejects God, has made a decision of the will to ignore the evidence God has given people to know He exists. This leads to a darkening of their minds where they cannot understand the significance of their rejection of God. This leads to being cut off from the life God wants to give them. To reject God is to reject the good things He wants to give us. This ultimately leads to living a life of calloused self-indulgence which will never satisfy the deep desire in their hearts that only knowing God can fulfill.

God created man with freewill which led to a dilemma for God. He is both loving and just. He loves us but His justice demands he punish us for our sins. His enemies make accusations against his character. So, God kept secret His plan to resolve His dilemma for a time. At the right time, he revealed that Jesus would be the perfect substitute to pay for man's sins. Thus, He demonstrated His great love but also satisfied his justice.

Matthew 13:1-23

Jesus, in the parable of the soils, teaches in such a way that those who do not want to hear truth will be able to dismiss Him and walk away but those who hunger to know the truth will dig deeper and discover the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven that will change their lives. The "seed" is the word of the kingdom, Jesus' message of reconciliation available to all who choose to receive it. The "soils" are the different responses to the message. What kind of soil you are is completely under your control. If you are not the good soil, you can change that by investigating further with an open mind.
