Lion Survival

Scott Risley
1 Peter 5:8-11

Although many people, including some professing Christians don't believe Satan exists, the Bible teaches that we have a very real adversary, the devil or Satan, who seeks to destroy us and our witness to a lost world. Peter writes that the devil is always on the prowl, seeking to attack us with lies, distortions, and accusations. Like a real lion, he tries to separate us from the pack so he can prey on the isolated. Peter calls us to be alert, know the Word, and resist the devil and he will flee from us. Don't forget you are not alone, and beware his strategy to separate you from God and the Body. Remember, it will all be over soon and God has dominion over Satan.

Spiritual Warfare

Conrad Hilario
1 Peter 5:8-9

\r\n\r\nSatan seeks to prevent anyone from hearing the message of Christ. He attacks non-believers by questioning God's goodness, by inciting believers to do things offensive to non-believers and he uses distraction to keep them from ever thinking about their need for salvation. Against believers, he uses temptation, accusation, isolation, discouragement, opposition and deception among other things to keep believers from fulfilling their mission to share the gospel with the lost. Learn to use the truth of God's Word and the power of prayer to resist the devil's efforts to neutralize your effectiveness for God.

Lion Awareness

Ben Foust
1 Peter 5:8-11

One of the essential attitudes for enduring what Peter calls the "fiery ordeal"--suffering in the name of Christ--is an awareness of God's enemy, Satan. Peter describes him as a lion, prowling around, looking for someone to devour. Peter says the keys to defeating him are knowing your enemy, being on the alert, and resisting him.

The Role of Prayer in Spiritual Warfare

Gary DeLashmutt
Ephesians 6:18-20

The Apostle Paul continues his instruction on spiritual warfare by explaining some key elements of prayer in this context. \r\n Specifically we should pray for other Christians in the power of the Holy Spirit and as a first response.

The Full Armor of God (Part 2)

Gary DeLashmutt
Ephesians 6:16-17

The apostle Paul was chained to Roman soldiers when he wrote this letter. He uses their armor to illustrate God's resources for our battle with supernatural evil. This time we discuss the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit.

The Full Armor of God (Part 1)

Gary DeLashmutt
Ephesians 6:11-15

The apostle Paul was chained to Roman soldiers when he wrote this letter. He uses their armor to illustrate God's resources for our battle with supernatural evil. This time we discuss the breastplate of righteousness, the belt of truth and the shoes of peace.

Stand Firm

Ben Foust
Ephesians 6:10-13

Paul begins the concluding section of the book with a call to arms: to stand firm against the Devil. Who is the enemy? How does he fight? And what do we do about it?

Our Safe Place

Scott Risley
Psalms 31

In this Psalm, David writes of how God is his hiding place when he is surrounded by enemies. When we face suffering, we often wonder why God allows it, but such times are an opportunity for us to pray to God as David did and experience what it means for God to be our safe place, which is difficult to understand when life is easy. The result can be a deeper understanding of God and a more intimate relationship with him.

Demolishing Strongholds

Conrad Hilario
2 Corinthians 10:3-5

Paul writes to the Corinthians about spiritual warfare, saying that we are engaged in a battle of ideas and truth with God's adversary, who wants to hurt God by hurting those he loves. Christians today must be alert and engaged in the battle, not retreating into a protectionist posture, but offensively countering Satan's lies with Biblical truth in order to stay spiritually strong ourselves and win others to Christ.
