How (Not) to Deal with Death

James Rochford
Ecclesiastes 3:1-21

In the third chapter of Ecclesiastes, King Solomon confronts the fact in the end God will judge every deed. All of man's efforts to wrestle meaning out of life is for nothing if there is no God who holds eternity in His hands. Because God has set eternity in the human heart, Solomon can confidently conclude: Fear God and obey His commands. In God, there is ultimate meaning and significance. Your actions matter into eternity and death cannot rob you of your joy.

What Is Faith?

Ben Foust
Mark 5:21-43

The narrative of the woman in the crowd and Jairus and his daughter teaches us what faith is. They both placed their trust in someone to the extent that they acted upon that trust. They each took a risk to reach out to the One who they believed could change hopeless situations. What mattered was not the amount or strength of their faith but the object of their faith, Jesus Christ. His power is absolutely adequate! He can and will set hopeless and broken things right.

What Jesus Accomplished through His Death on the Cross-Pt3

Gary DeLashmutt
Colossians 2:15

The third accomplishment of Jesus' death on the cross was it delivered us from Satan's authority. Jesus disarmed the rulers and authorities in the spiritual realm and made a public triumph over them at the cross. Although Satan has been dethroned, he has not yet been entirely destroyed. He still has power to do spiritual battle with us, but we know the end of the story. Jesus wins!

The View from the Cross

Mike Sullivan
Psalms 22

Psalm 22 is an extraordinary prophesy of the crucifixion of Jesus given hundreds of years before the torture method was invented. Modern medical science confirms the description of death described in Psalm 22 is consistent with death by crucifixion. Psalm 22 is an astonishingly accurate prediction of what Jesus came to earth to accomplish. Since the Bible has been so reliable with prophecy that has come to pass, we can just as confident in the prophesies that are yet to come. Therefore we can trust what God says about the future.

Revealing God's Rescue

Scott Risley
1 Peter 1:1-9

Although we will go through various trials in this life, God does have a recue plan for those who believe in him. While this world is passing away and Christ could come back at any moment, God works through our suffering to reveal himself to us and through us. Through this refining work of suffering, the proof of our faith is revealed and will ultimately result in our praise and glory and honor.

Christ Our Savior

Jim Leffel
Colossians 1:12-22

This passage summarizes in a nutshell the entire story of the Bible. It encapsulates who Christ is and what he has done as King, Creator and Redeemer. As King, he has enabled fallen man to be transferred from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of the Son. As Redeemer, he has reconciled us by paying the debt we could never pay. As Creator, he is the source of regeneration from death into life, a new life.

The Newness of Life

Conrad Hilario
Philippians 3:9-14

Paul tells us God wants to forgive our sins and give us new life based on the work Jesus did on the cross for us. Some people never progress beyond receiving His forgiveness, but those who desire to grow and walk with Jesus will encounter suffering and failure. But this the only way for God to break through our fleshly resistance and conform us to the likeness of Christ.

Death and Its Discontents

James Rochford
Philippians 3:17-21

Without eternity, earthly things are all we have in this life. There is no hope, no point to life, no way to face death. With all the knowledge and advances in technology, we still do not know how to prolong life. In a universe without God, this is the end of the story. Thank God this is not the end of the story! Thanks to Jesus, out citizenship is in heaven, provided, that is, that you are a believer.

The Glorious Transformation

Scott Risley
Philippians 3:17-21

As believers, when we die our body is temporarily separated from our spirit but a day will come where our spirit is reunited with our transformed, resurrected body. It will be a glorious body that will retain its original identifying features but will have amazing new abilities! Christ will transform our body of humble state into conformity with the body of His glory. Not only will our bodies be transformed but also our desires will be sanctified and fulfilled on the New Earth. Although while on this earth, our bodies are broken and our desires are corrupt, God offers hope. Don't miss out on the glorious transformation God offers.
