Thanks for the Feedback

a 5-week class with Liz Sweet

“Why is it that when we give feedback we so often feel right, yet when we receive feedback it so often feels wrong?” (Stone and Heen, p. 28). Most of us have a difficult time receiving feedback, yet, we know that feedback is an important aspect to growing to maturity in Christ. Proverbs 19:20 says, “Listen to advice and accept instruction, that you may gain wisdom in the future.” Although we all need to learn to give feedback in a loving way, as receivers of feedback, we are actually in charge; we get to decide whether we will listen. If we can learn to respond well to feedback, we can gain much wisdom and God can use that to impact our lives.

This class will reflect on the Biblical framework for giving and receiving feedback as we read and discuss the book, Thanks for the Feedback. Additionally, we will have practical exercises and examples that help us uncover the difficulties of receiving feedback, help us become more aware of our tendencies, and help us become better at listening to and evaluating feedback.
